SunGard recently announced that they have purchased Energy Softworx, a Florida based software house best known for their Fuelworx and Railworx products. This acquisition broadens SunGard’s footprint in the energy space and, perhaps more importantly, does not bring additional competing products into the company’s portfolio.

We had a chance to discuss the acquisition with Matt Mandalinci, president of SunGard Energy, and Debbie Wohlers, president of EnergySoftworx (and now the leader of the new EnergySoftworx division within SunGard Energy). We’ll be publishing more about it later, but it certainly seems that this latest acquisition is bound to be a winner for the company.
