Stamford CT

I spent the latter part of last week in Stamford, CT.  I have a friend that works for Sempra who was good enough to put me up.  Thanks Bec, I appreciate it.

The overall sense I got from the trip is that there is a heck of a lot of energy (no pun intended) being thrown at Energy Trading right now by the “big boys” in the New York area.  This may be old news to some, but I think it is worth noting the difference in the atmosphere in Houston.  The Houston energy market is excited and moving, but the New York / CT market is charging.  Bringing a vast amount of fiancial expertise and spending power to the table and not being shy of using it.  Rumors of $100 M projects are floating around again with multiple billions of profits being made.  They are all trying to catch Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan.

It is worth standing in a bar in Stamford just listening to the coversations of the UBS traders, and feeling the sense of excitement of RBS building an office right across the srteet.

I also spent time with KPMG, Triple Point and Trade Capture to get a sense of the services side of the business.  Oversold, with expectations of at least 5 years of aggressive growth would sum it up in a nutshell.
